0.5.0 UNSTABLE - Physics Preview


Physics Rework

  • Physics overhaul separating player input forces from external forces - allowing the player to receive horizontal boosts & gain horizontal momentum.
  • This horizontal momentum allows for new mechanics to be introduced, though some existing mechanics are slightly affected by these changes, namely the bouncy things
  • Jumping while moving into a wall now triggers a climb assist jump, automatically moving the player up the wall in an arcing motion
  • The new climb assist feature can also be used to perform a super jump, launching the player off the face of a wall with boosted horizontal momentum. This is achieved by jumping with climb assist, but quickly swapping input to move away from the wall to utilise the extra momentum
  • Walls with friction now correctly interact during collisions with the tops & bottoms of players, now actually applying a small resistant force. For smooth sliding, intuitively ice walls should now be used.

New Prototype Level Editor Items

  • Combustive Wall
    • Wall that applies an explosive force to the player on collision, propelling them in a direction relative to the collision position in relation to the explosive wall's origin.
  • Single Use Combustive Wall
    • Combination of the combustive wall & the existing cloud walls
  • Force/Wind Zone
    • Zone that applies a static horizontal force. Rotating this direction is not yet implemented.
  • Falling Wall
    • Wall that begins to slowly fall upon first touch by the player
  • Crumbling Wall
    • Wall that disappears on touch by anything EXCEPT the player, like an inverse cloud wall.
  • Anti-Grav Potion
    • Potion that temporarily disables player gravity

Note: Prototype mechanics do not work with flags.

Bugs Fixes & Tweaks

  • Updated delete map text to make it clearer that it will delete the entire map
  • Fixed bug where in-game text would show above the level settings
  • Visuals for star times rearranged, so the 3 star time is the top time.
  • INVALID TIME now shows in time fields when invalid time is inputted.
  • Fixed bug where discord would rename zip files, causing the extraction to create an incorrectly named folder - not accurately matching the stage name. Importing custom map zips no longer depends on an accurately named zip.
  • Fixed bug where pressing R on the series finish screen wouldn’t hide the UI popup
  • Fixed bug where times were not compared in the series screen if the series was a new highscore, as it would override the save it was comparing against.
